We planted 6 strawberry plants in May that I bought at the Sunniside Methodist Chapel fayre (conveniently the chapel hall is next to our allotment). After some vigorous weeding on Saturday, I discovered that the strawberries are growing very well and have sprouted an array of runners, covering the ground like spagetti!
Yesterday saw us visit local nurseries to buy a couple of fruit trees. We got a Victoria plum (pictured above) and a apple (James Grieve variety suitable for both cooking and eating.)
