Milking Spot
Earlier this month I had a go at milking Spot, our nanny who has three times given birth, but had not previously been milked. The plan was to break her in gradually. It wasn't very successful. I will have to rethink the plan.
It takes me about two weeks of all-out struggle/WAR to break in a new milker. Mine like to LAY DOWN on the milk stand. Fortunately, they are smaller goats, so I hoist them up with my shoulder and head so I can get a quart jar up underneath!!
Some goats can be milked better from behind, sometimes you can figure out how to lift up one leg and secure it in that position, pretty hard for a four legged animal to stand on just two.
