Last swarm of the season
I forgot to post about this but on 22nd June we had our last swarm of the season. I successfully caught it and housed it in one of the hives freed up after the death of a colony over winter. We now have 8 working hives. The ninth, our first swarm of the season, has died.
I checked the hives last week. There is a good honey crop but the cold, wet snap in June means the crop is not yet ready to take off. We will leave it a couple of weeks longer, assuming the weather is reasonable.
