We had our first bee swarm of the year today. I spotted it in the fruit cage so I had to rush back home, get the smock and swarm box and return to the allotment. It was one of the easiest swarms I have collected. One shake and it was in the swarm box. I left it on the ground for a few hours to let the few bees that did not drop into the box find their way into it. This evening, I put the swarm into a new hive.
